How do feel about the Pike River Mine, only being temporarily sealed after a fourth big explosion recently?

Needs to be sealed , human nature being what it is at any risk we will bury our dead .I wonder why we still persist mining coal , our ancestors mined 100s of years ago , can't we move on from this fuel are we out dated? Maybe backward , we in Australia still mine it also, and to base economy on it makes me wonder ?who is getting what from this China
